I am a retired police officer from California. I was injured in the line of duty (shot and hit by a car), and my injuries would not allow me to return back to work. So, I was forced into retirement at the age of 32. I was in very good shape at the time. I weightlifted a lot and was considered a big guy for being 5'6" and 190 lbs. Then, the injuries and retirement happened. Long story short, I moved to Tennessee and ballooned up to 260+ lbs.
I knew I needed to do something. I tried jogging, but it tore my knees up and aggravated my injuries. Well, for my 20th wedding anniversary, my wife bought me the Horizon Ascent trainer. I loved it from the moment I got on it. No pain in my bones or joints. I used it regularly and have now worked up to 5 miles in 40 minutes, 2 times a day for 6 days a week (I work out in the morning and one hour before bed). I am now weighing 180 lbs.; that's over 80 lbs. lost in 4 months! Once I'm down to 175 lbs., I'll start weight training again. The Ascent trainer helped me train for my very first 5K, too, which I will be running next month.
I still have the scars from the injuries but none of the side effects from them. I wanted to thank you guys for making it possible for me to get back in shape by making such a great trainer.
